Arriving in Berlin

There are two airports in Berlin: Tegel and Schönefeld.

Schönefeld (SXF)

The trip from Schönefeld to the Residency in Pankow takes about an hour by train. You can take the S-Bahn (train) S9 from the airport directly to Pankow. You buy the ticket on the platform at the ticket-machine. Don’t forget to stamp the ticket before you enter the S-Bahn. When you reach Pankow the Center for Ceramics is about a ten minute walk from the station.

Tegel (TXL)

The trip from the Tegel airport to the Center for Ceramics will take you 15-20 minutes and taxis are readily available outside the airport entrance at a cost of 20-25 €. A 10% tip for the driver is typical in Germany.

The Pankow neighbourhood

The residency is located one block from Pankow center and local tram and bus Stops. The U-Bahn and S-Bahn station is about three blocks from the residency facility. There are two large city parks within walking distance and all needs can be met by the businesses within walking distance. You can reach Berlin Downtown (Mitte /Alexanderplatz ) within 25 min with the tram.
